25% discount offered on pre-orders of the SharePoint workflow software
OCT. 27 — K2® today announced the free availability of K2 blackpoint™ beta 2 software, featuring a tech preview of the Silverlight-based K2 Web Designer for workflows. Customers will enjoy a 25 percent license fee discount on K2 blackpoint orders placed between now and its official release to market.
K2 blackpoint software eliminates complexity and allows users to quickly build workflow solutions and process-driven applications within Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0; and it’s offered at a price-to-value ratio that is unprecedented.
Even non-developers can use K2 blackpoint to create new SharePoint workflows that span libraries, sites, InfoPath forms, server farms and organizations; manage approvals; and route documents and list items. With K2 blackpoint everything can be built without code, and users can assemble new applications from information that already exists and workflows that have already been built. Installation, training, process consulting and more sophisticated integration services are available from a wide range of K2 partner companies.
“This software is totally focused on enhancing the workflow and workflow-based solution capabilities of SharePoint,” said Adriaan van Wyk, K2’s CEO. “By empowering non-developers to create and consume applications in SharePoint, K2 blackpoint frees IT departments to focus on other mission-critical SharePoint applications. It also allows the K2 partner community to combine its domain expertise with the powerful capabilities in K2 blackpoint and unlock value in customers’ SharePoint-related investments.”
K2 blackpoint beta 2 is feature-complete and offers drag-and-drop tools, a Microsoft Office-style designer (K2 Studio) and a tech preview of the Silverlight-based K2 Web Designer. K2 blackpoint will be released to market with the K2 Studio designer and a beta version of the Silverlight-based K2 Web Designer. The complete version of the Web designer will be released later this year to customers current on their K2 blackpoint Technical Support and Software Maintenance contract.
K2 blackpoint is $5,000 (USD) for up to 200 users, installed on a single server; $10,000 for unlimited users, installed on a single server; or $15,000 for unlimited users, installed in a distributed environment. Each of the K2 blackpoint SKU packages offers all the same features and capabilities, including templates, process portals, the Worklist Web part and the two designers.
Because K2 blackpoint is a subset of K2 blackpearl® features and tools, it also offers an upgrade path so organizations can grow their investment and add capabilities over time. K2 blackpearl is the centerpiece of the K2 platform for building enterprise-ready, process-driven applications.
“K2 has always added great value to SharePoint products and technologies, with its K2.net 2003 and K2 blackpearl products typically focused on the large enterprise market,” said Tom Rizzo, director of SharePoint for Microsoft Corp. “We are pleased that the company will be releasing (K2 blackpoint), dedicated to SharePoint technologies and exploiting the simplicity of the SharePoint platform. This will open up the power of creating rich workflow- and process-driven applications on SharePoint products and technologies to a broad user base.”
