Corporate Controller

Duties

K2 is seeking a results-driven financial professional to lead the company’s controllership function globally. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will need to possess the right mix of leadership and financial management skills, while maintaining financial reporting accuracy. In this very hands-on and impactful role, the selected candidate will drive sound financial management and internal controls to help safeguard and optimize the assets of the organization. The ideal candidate is someone who has demonstrated experience in technology, licensing transactions and complex revenue arrangements in a SaaS company.

What you’ll be doing as a member of our team:
  • Leadership of department personnel, federal and state compliance reporting, management and oversight, annual audit, and banking
  • Lead general ledger accounting, including monthly and annual closings
  • Coordinate with international subsidiaries to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Manage A/P & A/R and fixed assets management
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balances
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and coordinate the development and review of business process documentation to support operational efficiency and business continuity
  • Manage and coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for annual audits, including but not limited to supporting documentation for audit fieldwork, financial statements and disclosures 
  • Ensure that accounting treatment of all transactions are GAAP compliant 
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable financial and tax laws, rules, and regulations
  • Provide counsel to business leaders on a range of tax and accounting issues, including treatment of complex revenue transactions 
  • Coordinate with 3rd party firm on consolidated tax provision, state and sales tax, and tax return projects
  • Research and anticipate unique tax issues that could impact the company
  • Manage adoption of ASC 606
  • Supervise and calculate commissions and related bonuses on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in accordance with the respective employee compensation schemes
  • Assist with financial due diligence related to acquisitions 
  • Partner with broader Finance team on budget to actual reporting  
  • Work with key internal stakeholders such as legal and security  
  • Provide training to internal clients on relevant accounting and tax topics

Requirements

What you’ll bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent 
  • CPA/CMA certification  
  • 5-years minimum public accounting experience  
  • 4-years minimum experience leading the accounting function 
  • 4-years minimum experience leading an accounting team 
  • Experience in GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Experience advising on technology transactions and licensing
  • Experience in a multi-national finance department 
  • Practical business judgment
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

Additional qualifications:
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and private equity firm 
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and negotiation skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision 
  • Ability to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, writing, and client interaction skills
