Are “low-code platforms” the answer to making companies more agile and flexible in a business world that is constantly changing?
According to a recent Forrester report, “New Development Platforms Emerge for Customer-Facing Applications,” many companies are choosing low-code over traditional programming platforms due to the speed with which low-code apps can be assembled and tested. With the need for customer-facing applications on the rise, traditional programming platforms for business process and dynamic case management and content management simply cannot keep up with the “short schedules and rapid change cycles” required to develop these apps.
While some companies are addressing the challenges of time and need through outsourcing, turning to packaged applications or through specialized middleware, Forrester notes none of those approaches solve the basic problem. Instead, low-code platforms slash the need for hand-coding applications, providing a framework for testing and experimentation, addressing all customer channels and providing a single control point for configuration, delivery and maintenance.
