WHO
K2 Insiders are leaders in the global K2 community. They are K2 advocates, eager to share their expertise and committed to enhancing the K2 community efforts as a whole.

K2 Insiders represent a broad base of skills, experiences and cultures. They come from a variety of backgrounds and hold a range of diverse positions. Insiders tend to seek out new technology and actively communicate their experiences and thoughts to others. Through their various K2 community activities they strive to help others solve problems, discover new capabilities and get more value from their deployments.
WHAT
Primarily the K2 Insider program helps K2 build and foster a passionate and thriving community. The Insider program also serves as a vital feedback link from the community at large to the K2 sales, marketing and product organizations. This program recognizes those who stand out as staunch supporters of K2, the BPM and workflow ecosystem, and the power that these elements can bring to an organization.
WHY
One of K2's core goals is to establish and grow a community of individuals who regularly share their experiences, passion and feedback regarding K2 software. Insiders evangelize the power and value of the K2 platform and enable its worldwide base of customers and partners.
The K2 Insider program:

    Jason Apergis
    I currently work for a Microsoft Gold partner called RDA as a Technical Project Manager. Over
    the past years I have done a lot of work with MOSS and K2 integrating them with BizTalk,
    InfoPath, ASP.net, SSIS, mainframes and other non-MS technologies. I am the co-author of K2
    blackpearl Professional writing chapters on SmartObject, InfoPath/ASP.net and Deployments. One
    of the solutions was nominated for a Microsoft Partner of the Year solution in 2006. K2 gave
    me the title of K2 Insider. I am a Virginia Tech alumni completing both my undergrad and
    masters in Information Technology. I play ice hockey on a regular basis and I am huge
    Washington Capitals fan.

    Chris Auld
    Chris is one of Intergen’s four directors, leading the Strategy and Innovation team. Chris joined Intergen when Intergen acquired his .NET consultancy, Kognition, in February 2007. Chris was the Managing Director and Chief Software Architect. Chris has over 10 years’ experience in architecting large scale enterprise systems and mobile applications for a broad variety of vertical sectors, from healthcare to manufacturing. He is a Microsoft Regional Director and works closely with various product teams at Microsoft, building sample applications and training materials. He also acts in an advisory capacity for Microsoft in determining future technologies and speaks regularly at industry events around the world. Chris and his teams have been responsible for a large amount of sample and training collateral for Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation, a key pillar of the Longhorn technology wave.
    In his spare time, Chris is an adventure-sports fanatic and is a former New Zealand Whitewater Kayaking representative. Chris also has a number of extracurricular business interests and directorships, and keeps an active, hands-on profile in the ICT community.

    Jonathan Beckett
    I am an experienced software developer, web developer, consultant and designer, working on a variety of software development, web design, content management, document capture, business process management and migration projects.  My project roles have included evangelist, consultant, designer, developer, architect, and technical lead, spanning industry leading technologies from the likes of Microsoft, Oracle, K2, Kofax, FileNET, Active Navigation, Sun, and the wider spectrum of Linux technologies and solution providers. I am also a well known developer of open source software, acting as both lead and contributor to a number of successful open source projects. I am a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist (MCTS) for Deltascheme Limited (www.deltascheme.com), and have been working with K2 products and technologies since 2006.     Steven Boldt

    I work for a Microsoft NSI partner named Catapult Systems as a Senior Consultant. K2 has been
    a primary focal point for me in the past several years which encompasses K2.Net 2003, K2
    blackpearl, and K2 blackpoint. I have been involved in many process-driven and integrated solutions which focus on Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Biztalk, and InfoPath. I hold both a MCTS and MCP Microsoft certifications.


    Todd Braly

    I'm a native Oklahoman. I've lived in Tulsa for the last 25 years. I'm married, have two children (13 and 16, both boys). My wife is an attorney with a firm here in Tulsa, and is also a native Oklahoman. My hobbies include: playing the guitar, listening to music, woodworking, electronics (audio, and digital), homebrewing, reading and anything that includes being in the mountains.
    I've worked in IT for 16 years. The last 10-1/2 as an IT consultant with Stonebridge. My experience and expertise in consulting has been primarily in custom application development, integration and workflow. I've worked on projects in several different industries: oil and gas exploration/trading/pipeline scheduling, gas utilities, hotel management, casino management, manufacturing, telecommunication, and medical.  Oddly enough I even worked on a floral order processing application for Teleflora when I first started at Stonebridge. I've worked on various workflow-related projects over the last seven years (primarily using Tibco InConcert). I love consulting and especially love the opportunity to learn and apply new technologies.


    Craig Butler
    My name is Craig Butler and I am a Senior Consultant for Computer Technology Solutions, Inc. I have been in services consulting for most of my professional career (9 yrs). CTS is a Gold Certified Microsoft Partner based in Birmingham, AL. At CTS, I specialize in Application Integration (AI), Business Process Management (BPM) and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA). I have delivered on numerous enterprise integration efforts at Fortune 500 organizations. The products that I support are BizTalk Server 2006, MOSS 2007 and K2 (2003 & Blackpearl). I am also a member of the Microsoft BizTalk Server Virtual Technology Specialist team. This provides me with tremendous opportunities to work with both the Microsoft product and account teams. I am really excited about the opportunity that the K2 Insider program and I love K2 Blackpearl!!!! When I am not geeking out with BizTalk, K2 or one of my numerous virtual server farms, I am a huge University of Alabama supporter (ROLL TIDE!!) and an ever bigger fan of my wife Melissa and daughter Elizabeth.


    Tim Byrne
    I am a consultant for Clarity Consulting, a Chicago-based consulting firm specializing in custom application development on Microsoft platforms.I have 10years of experience in both Microsoft and Oracle technologies, and I am currently trying to carve a niche for myself as Clarity’s workflow automation specialist.


    Ruben D'arco

    I’m an application developer/consultant at Capgemini in the Netherlands. I have worked at Getronics which was bought by KPN who sold the Business Applications Solutions branch of the company to Capgemini. In total that means I have about 4 years of professional experience in the Microsoft .NET technology space. Before that I’ve had two IT-related studies.

    I started working with K2 blackpearl in the beta 1 TR2 phase where we did some demo processes. After that I worked on small and large K2/SharePoint projects within our company. Apart from having an active (developer/consultant) role in projects, I also guide other projects on the sideline and help out our (pre-)sales team.

    Sergio Del Picolo
    Sergio is an experienced business process consultant at Avantage Partners and has led business process integration engagements of all sizes. He brings more than 10 years of hands-on experience as a technical and business solutions architect. Sergio has acted as a trusted advisor for multiple clients, providing guidance and leadership on successful process-driven and integration solutions.
    As a well respected consultant within the community, Sergio has achieved a number of accreditations that have further established his expertise. Sergio is an expert on the Microsoft Connected System and K2 platforms. He administers the Connected Systems User Group and is the Vancouver Chapter Leader.
    Sergio leads the Partner Integrated Workflow program, focusing on getting organizations to streamline their business processes and helping them gain a competitive edge in today’s global market.
    When not at work, Sergio can be found participating in sports (triathlons, snowboarding, surfing and mountain biking), hiking around the local mountains or, most importantly, spending time with his family.


    Carlos Diaz Calvi
    Carlos is a Senior Consultant in the Netherlands, with 12 years experience in different countries, such as his hometown Argentina, Chile, Spain - 4 years -, Ireland - 4 years - and the Netherlands since 2008. Working on K2 for a year on a half for one of the biggest energy companies in the world, initially as analist/developer of the firts K2 project in production for them, and later - for the last year -, as K2 Workflows Functional Support / Workflow Integration Specialist. Carlos is working also as a facilitator for a handful number of projects currently on development in a huge-scaled implementartion of K2 as a shared environment. Besides his work in K2, Carlos is an expert on mobile technologies development, and multiple technologies across the whole spectrum (such as small/specialized team project management, combat-plane mission development (in spain), and web/win applications for stock/sales) Outside the IT work, on his spare time, Carlos Diaz Calvi is a fiction writer with 8 published books during the last five years (all in spanish) with the prospect of two new novels to be published in english in the next few months
     
     
    Eric Eichler
    Eric’s primary focus is ASP.NET/C# development and most of his work typically involves some K2 components. Eric works for the K2 Partner, Guidewire Solutions based in Atlanta, GA. He has been working with K2 blackpearl since its beta days and has enjoyed watching (and participating in) its evolution into the leader in BPM on the Microsoft stack. Guidewire is a software reseller and consulting services organization focused exclusively on workflow, business process management, and enterprise content management solutions for the Microsoft platform. They partner with industry leading vendors such as K2 and Bluethread to offer their customers best of breed process driven solutions that are cost effective to buy, deploy quickly, and easily adopted by both business and technical users.

    Yousef Eqtait
    I have been working professionally in the IT industry since 2000. And extended my knowledge into the area of enterprise solutions development built with .Net technologies such as Microsoft SharePoint and K2 Technologies, specialized in the areas of Information Worker Solutions and Architecture.
    I am now the lead consultant of the Middle East K2 distributor, offering support, best practices, QA and leading teams to deliver high quality solutions built on top of K2, MOSS and .NET technology. I hold a BA degree with major of Computer Information Systems from the University of Jordan, with industry specific certifications of MCSD, MCT, and MCTS in SQL Server 2005


    Cesare Feci
     I’m part of the CTO staff of a global IT consulting company specialized in designing, developing and delivering solutions based on the Microsoft enterprise platform. I’m mainly focused on human workflow applications development and BPM. I started working with K2 blackpearl since it was in beta version and I‘m currently busy helping some companies in Italy evolving their IT services according with the BPM and SOA paradigms.
     

    Jeremy Hancock
    I am a Senior Solution Architect with Dimension Data in Sydney Australia. My focus is on solutions based around MOSS 2007 and K2. I have been a staunch K2 advocate for a number of years and have been involved in a number of K2 projects. I have been working with MOSS since early 2007 (pre beta) and have been very excited about the possibilities. In addition to working with MOSS and K2, I have five years of .NET experience,three years of J2EE and spent nearly 10 years working with Lotus Notes-based technologies. So I guess I have spent most of my career involved in workflow solutions of one form or another.


    David Hunter

    I currently work for 2e2 Ltd as a Senior Consultant specialising in SharePoint and Microsoft Server Products. I have been working with K2 BlackPearl since the early release in the summer of 2007 and have been striving to implement good architectured solutions and support best practice.

    Sajo Jacob

    Sajo Jacob is a Consultant at Clarity Consulting and has participated in a variety of projects involving the design, development and implementation of both server and web-based information systems. Sajo has been with Clarity since 2006. On the Workflow front Sajo has experience in workflows implementations using Windows Workflow Foundation and has used K2 BlackPoint starting from the early beta versions.     Paul Konieczny
    I am a highly driven VP of Business Process Automation for MicroLink LLC. based in Vienna VA. who is always looking to find efficient solutions that satisfy demands of any business. I have a specific concentration on building solutions using the entire Microsoft stack. Within the Microsoft stack I have focused on MOSS and K2 for Defense and Civilian government agencies. Over the past several years my concentration has been technical sales that are specific to; developing rapid applications that enable agencies to show immediate return on investment in K2;to connect otherwise disconnected systems and utilize that information in the daily decision making process through K2 workflow and SmartObject Technology; and empowering end users to control and manage their own processes as they mature and change due to dynamic business needs. My background stems from FileNet workflow and industrial robotics and vision automation which has allowed me to view each process automation project with a dollars and cents attitude toward process efficiency and rapid return for each customer.

    Tim Knechtel

    Tim Knechtel is a Principal Technologist with Caprivi Solutions. CapriVi Solutions is a K2 Value Added Resller working with customers and partners to help automate their business processes. From 2004-2009 Tim worked at K2 as a Technical Specialist in the Toronto area. Prior to working for K2 Tim worked at Microsoft for 9 years as a Technical Specialist focusing on SharePoint, Project Server and Exchange. With over 15 years of industry experience as a infrastructure specialist and software developer Tim enjoys getting software to work as the users would expect it to. In his free time Tim enjoys spending time with his family, playing hockey and running.
     
    Murray Macdonald

    A former K2 employee, I’ve been involved with K2 in all its flavours since January 2005. I’m a big fan of K2.net 2003, a bigger fan of K2 blackpearl. I’ve seen firsthand how K2 has changed hundreds of businesses and allowed them to be more efficient, more compliant and cut operational costs. The key to a successful BPM Application is simple: a) use K2 only for what is designed for, b) architect, plan and manage the BPM Application like you would any other Microsoft development project using accepted best practices and c) get the right people to do the job. I’m currently working with a passionate and dynamic development team at Marketform (a Lloyds Syndicate) in London, UK. I have over 10 years of Microsoft development experience, am a MCP and will kick your ass at Forza Motorsport


    Gabriel Malherbe
    Gabriel’s an experienced .NET architect and cooperative team player with a strong workflow and content management background. He is a positive, professional and delivery-focussed team leader and likes people as much as the tech. Gabriel believes that IT should be a fun and rewarding experience while getting the job done.
    He’s worked with in various industries including aviation, finance, broadcasting and manufacturing. It taken him around the world, but these days he prefers to be UK based spending as much time with his family as possible. Hobbies and activities include snowboarding, cycling and diving.

    Jason Montgomery
    Jason Montgomery is a principal of Active Technologies Group, Inc. (ATGi), an international technology consulting firm based in Columbus, Ohio. ATGi is a Microsoft Partner and K2 Partner that has clients ranging from Fortune 500 to government agencies, including the Department of Defense.
    His skills cover a broad range of technologies with specializations in Microsoft Technologies, .NET software development, K2 workflow solutions, and network and Internet technologies. Jason has a personal fascination and passion for computer security and approaches technology with this security mindset.
    Currently, the Defense Logistics Agency relies on Jason's guidance with Microsoft technologies, .NET programming, K2 workflow solutions, Microsoft SQL Server, and security guidance as it relates to these technologies. Jason's experience architecting and implementing K2 for government agencies requires extra care due to the sensitive nature of the data, giving him critical experience securing and hardening operating systems, databases and application servers, including K2.
    In the past, Jason has done technical editing for WROX Press for the books "Beginning C# and Professional C#" and a few others.He has experience as a technical trainer for K2 as well as Microsoft's Programming MCAD and MCSD Certifications for .NET. Currently, he sits on the Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Advisory Board and holds the CISSP Certification and both the GIAC .NET Security (GNET) and GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) Certifications.


    Colin Murphy
    Colin Murphy is a Principal Architect with RDA Corporation, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, and has been working in the industry for about
    12 years. Colin's areas of specialization are Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007, Smart Clients and Workflow. Colin has been working
    with K2.net 2003 since early 2006 on projects for a variety of clients.

    Deepa Patadia

    Deepa is a motivated, results-focused IT technologist with experience in developing enterprise-wide solutions. She has experience in all aspects of the Software Development life cycle, including business requirements gathering, analysis, research, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. This experience combined with her attention to detail, ability to quickly understand existing infrastructures, and focus on being efficient without sacrificing quality has contributed to her success in the past.
    She is a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist highly experienced in bringing business process management (BPM) and enterprise content management (ECM) solutions, including paperless and digital-as-you go initiatives, to organizations looking to centralize their enterprise content, streamline their existing business processes, identify bottlenecks, and increase efficiency using Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS), Windows Workflow Foundation, InfoPath Forms Services, Digital Imaging solutions, and additional BPM suites built on Microsoft technologies such as K2 BlackPearl.


    Jeremy Ragan
    As a developer, architect, and integrator, Jeremy has more than 10 years of experience in the IT field, including expertise and deployment of K2 software. He has strong technical expertise within SharePoint, K2, BizTalk and SQL Server; and he has considerable vertical expertise within Retail and Oil & Gas.



    Deon Smit
    I am a Principal Consultant at Inobits INC in Southern California.
    My primary focus is on large-scale K2 Solutions involving integrations with BizTalk, SharePoint, Web Services, Directory Services and Legacy systems.  I have been in the IT industry for 20 years —10 years in the Network Infrastructure space and 10 years in the Business Process Management space. I have been involved with K2 for more than five years. I have written a complete MOC training course for Microsoft Redmond called "Implementing Communication and Collaboration Solutions"and presented this course to trainers in Europe.
    I have written sections of the Official Microsoft Office 2003 readiness course, which was presented to International partners all over the world.
    I have written a complete training course for SourceCode Technology Holdings, Inc. (K2's parent company)called "Developing Enterprise Workflow Solutions Using K2.net 2003" and presented this course to partners and customers in the United States, India and South Africa.
    I have assisted in the writing of a second training course for SourceCode called "K2.net 2003 Infrastructure and Deployment" and presented this course to partners and customers in the United States and South Africa.



    Jey Srikantha
    Jey is a K2 Insider located in Melbourne, Australia. He founded jEyLaBs in Feb 2009, a K2 service provider partner who delivers process driven solutions using K2, Sharepoint and other related technologies. Jey is ex-K2 and has been working with K2 since Feb 2006. During his Sharepoint consulting years he found K2 to be a great platform to deliver workflow to the masses through Sharepoint. Now working with other System Integrators, jey and jEyLaBs help implement solutions to process problems.

    Riaan Terblanche
    Been coding for the past 18 years starting with Pacsal, Delphi, COBOL, C++, Java and C#. Started working in IT working for big IT company doing classic asp/java and VB windows desktop development. After which I worked in the health care industry writing hospital intranet systems and doctor networking data mining applications. Then moved on to the insurance industry developing and architecting CRM type solutions specific to the industry type. Been working the past 2 years for Datacentrix, IT company based in Pretoria, South Africa. I work for the BPM – Solutions department which main focus is workflow development but also custom web solutions and records management/document repositories using SharePoint. I’m currently in the position as Systems Architect/Team lead on a few BlackPearl and BlackPoint projects and still supporting a few K2.net 2003 workflows.

    Jason Trent
      I’m a Solutions Architect for Hitachi Consulting, a Microsoft Gold Partner, focusing primarily on Microsoft custom development efforts around SharePoint, ASP.NET and most recently workflow specifically K2. I’m based out of Dallas, TX and have been using K2 since K2.NET 2003; most recently I’ve been working with clients on ramping up on both blackpearl and blackpoint solutions.
    Edgardo Vega
    Edgardo Vega is a Senior Application Support Analyst at Moog Components Group. He has worked in the Information Technology field since 2001, specializing in architecting and building enterprise class systems. He primarily focuses on building these solutions using the Microsoft suite of products. Edgardo started working with K2 software in 2005 and K2 blackpearl, specifically, in early beta builds. Edgardo uses K2 as the way to power Moog’s process-driven applications, integrating with ASP.net, SharePoint, SQL, SSIS, etc. He is also a 2004 graduate of Virginia Tech, with a degree in Computer Science. He is currently working on his Master's in Computer Science while working full-time. In his free time, he enjoys ultimate freebie, skiing, hiking, and watching movies.

    Carl Whitehead

    I’m an enterprise architect currently working for Datacom New Zealand (Microsoft Gold Partner).  With over 14 years experience in the IT industry, I’ve been involved with both Java and Microsoft technologies.  I’m somewhat of a workflow enthusiast with experience across a number of workflow toolsets (WebLogic Integration Server, BizTalk, Windows Workflow Foundation and, of course, K2 blackpearl). I’ve been using K2 blackpearl for approximately 2 years and I’m currently lead architect for a large online self service portal (utilising ASP.NET and K2 blackpearl). In addition, I have a particular interest in extending the K2 platform and have recently been involved in the development of a number of K2 middleware connectors and an advanced Client Event Wizard.



    Jonathan Wynn
    Manager — Advanced Technology & Collaborative Services at Del Monte Foods, Jonathan Wynn oversees the strategic and capacity planning and all new Microsoft initiatives. His group is also in charge of the information management framework— the roadmap Del Monte Foods uses for the Microsoft technologies and Business Process Automation.
